GIST Gift and Deselection Manager Update 1.0.2.7

If you have already installed version 1.0.0.3 then you will be offered the option to download the update the next time you launch GDM.

If you have a prior version, you will need to download the update from http://gist.idsproject.org/GIST_GDM_Updater.zip

Otherwise, please use the full installer from http://gettingitsystemtoolkit.wordpress.com/gift-deselection-manager/installation-configuration/

Bug Fixes:

Fixed issue with Amazon now requiring Associate Tag to function properly.
To obtain an Associates Tag, please join the Amazon Affiliates at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/flex/associates/apply-login.html
You will need to enter the Associate Tag into the GDM Configuration after the upgrade has run.

Critical update to GIST for ILLiad Webpages

Amazon is now requiring an Associate Tag for all requests.

That means in addition to creating your regular AWS account and getting your two API keys, you will also need to create an Affiliate Account. To create an Affiliate Account please go to : https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/flex/associates/apply-login.html

After you have created your Affiliate Account, please enter your AssociateTag into the GIST.config file.

The following new line is needed in the GIST.config between lines 33 & 34 (the AWSSecretKey and WorldCatKey values):

When finished, to re-save web.config so that it has a newer “Date Modified” than the GIST.config file.

You will need to replace the GISTModule.aspx with the current version in your \ILLiad Web\GIST\ folder on your server.

What an amazing GIST Team; Tim has remade the GIST documentation – to be released with the new Acquisitions Manager on Nov. 15th; Mark is finishing up the calculation functions of the new Acquisitions Manager – which is a very sophisticated ILLiad Addon that works with new GIST Tables inside ILLiad (more on all this when you see the new documentation); Kate will be testing and debug with Mark this week, plus getting to know new staff – whew.

Atlas Systems to offer ILLiad users GIST planning and implementation

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – October 5, 2011 – Atlas Systems, the leading provider of time-saving solutions for libraries, has announced an agreement with the Information Delivery Services Project (IDS) to provide training to any ILLiad user who is interested in implementing the Getting It System Toolkit (GIST). GIST merges and streamlines Acquisitions and ILL request workflows using ILLiad, leveraging systems to do more work while reducing the staff time necessary to make informed decisions and process materials.

Atlas developed the ILLiad Resource Sharing Management Software which is now distributed exclusively by OCLC. GIST was developed by the GIST Team at SUNY Geneseo and is partially funded by a grant from the Rochester Regional Library Council.

According to Ed Rivenburgh, IDS Project Director, “We are seeing interest in GIST from ILLiad users around the country and even outside the U.S. Providing the support and training for all these libraries is beyond the scope of what IDS can manage. Atlas has been a terrific partner for us and, because they are the developers of ILLiad, they are the logical people to help us maintain high standards for resource sharing by working with GIST users. We are delighted that they will be playing an active role in helping IDS fulfill our mission to advance the sharing of library resources through collaboration, innovation, and efficiency.”

Under the terms of the agreement Atlas will offer training and support for GIST implementation to any ILLiad user. “Atlas Systems recognizes the tremendous value GIST provides to the resource sharing community and we welcome the opportunity to help IDS serve GIST users wherever they are,” said Stephanie Spires, Atlas Training & Library Solutions Manager. “Not all libraries have the technical expertise to implement GIST. Atlas can bridge this technical gap by incorporating GIST Implementation Services into our training lineup. We can help libraries develop a project plan and then implement and support it.”
